Built in 1925 as a Memorial Hall for those fallen in the First World War. The hall comprises of a large auditorium where films, plays can be shown and sports and club activities such as badminton, dance groups etc. can take place. The hall also houses a snooker room plus several meeting rooms on a lower ground floor.
For many years there had been no investment in the hall and only essential repairs were carried out, this reached a critical stage where major investment was needed if the hall was to remain open. Ceredigion Council do not have the necessary funds so want to give a repairing lease to a community group. A new committee has been formed with the objective of rejuvenating the hall and keeping it open.
The new organisation is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (New Quay Memorial Hall, Registered Charity Number 1179995) supported by a friends group, all of whom are staffed by volunteers from the local community.
Funding was obtained through a Welsh Government grant and work started in 2020. That work was completed in 2021 and the Hall is now fully open and should be for many years to come.
